Ken and
Tracie started
Carolina Outdoor Sportsman in June of 2005 with the idea of bringing
small town ideals to the thriving Triangle area.
After spending 8
years as the owners and operators of Conchy Joe’s Marine and Tackle
in Key West, Florida, we were looking for better educational
opportunities and healthcare for our three children. Avoiding a
direct hit from a hurricane was an added plus of moving to Raleigh,
along with the fact that we already had friends here. What we wanted
to bring with us was our commitment to customer service, product
knowledge, and experience.
Our Staff
We have had the amazing good fortune to find and hire an incredible
staff of experienced hunters and anglers. They have experience
ranging from tournament bass and saltwater fishing to bow and gun
hunting and archery instruction. We have enhanced their knowledge
by sending them to school to become certified bow technicians, and
even to ‘Mathew’s Academy’..
Our Facility
Although we started in 2400 square feet, we quickly found the need
to expand into a 6000 square foot space. This afforded us the
opportunity to create an archery range that has been certified
by the National Field Archery Association. We also have space
dedicated to bow and arrow repair with state of the art bow
presses, arrow saws and other equipment. Our back room also
has a reel repair station with 2 line winding machines. Our
newest addition currently in progress is our gun room where
we stock hunting rifles and shotguns along with black powder
guns and all the necessary ammunition.
Outreach
We support many of the local hunting and fishing clubs like
the BassPack, Ducks Unlimited, Raleigh Saltwater Club, Tar
River Archery Club and the local chapter of Hunters for
the Handicapped. We have sponsored a fishing tournament
for the Brier Creek Elementary PTA, and are looking forward
to helping expand the National Archery in the Schools
Program (NASP) in Wake County. So come on in, look around,
share your stories, post your hunting and fishing pictures,
and gather information and experience from
‘Carolina’s first name in outdoor sports’.
